Project Summary
As part of activities to commemorate World Breastfeeding Week 2017, Grassroot People and Gender Development Center organized a community outreach and maternal health sensitization programme in Alimosho Local Government Area to promote exclusive breastfeeding practices and improve maternal and child health outcomes.
The programme aimed to educate nursing mothers, pregnant women, caregivers, and community members on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, proper infant nutrition, and maternal healthcare practices. The outreach also encouraged healthy feeding habits that support child survival, growth, and development.
Our Intervention
- Conducted community sensitization sessions on the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for infants and mothers.
- Organized health talks for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and caregivers on maternal and child nutrition.
- Engaged healthcare professionals and community stakeholders to provide practical guidance on infant feeding practices.
- Distributed educational materials and promoted awareness on child health and nutrition.
- Encouraged mothers to adopt exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child’s life.
